We welcome Tony Duckwood to our Sunderland branch
Sunderland’s new assistant branch manager, Tony Duckwood discusses his new role
“I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join Park Electrical Distributors at the end of last year, with a clear objective to take a pivotal role in enhancing and further developing the Sunderland branch, whilst cementing its longstanding reputation of being the number one wholesaler in the city. Having been here now for little over two months, it’s very clear that we have an exceptionally talented and committed team, with a wealth of knowledge, led by branch manager Craig Armstrong.
I have worked in the electrical wholesale industry for the majority of my working life, starting my journey in 1987 at Newey & Eyre, Sunderland straight from school on a Youth Training Scheme (YTS). I am very proud that I worked in a number of different branches in almost every role and department, from branch junior, to warehouse, trade counter, telephone sales, sales executive, assistant manager, branch manager. The list goes on.
I also had a period working as a buyer and plant manager for an electrical contractor, which allowed me to experience what it’s like from the customer’s perspective, enforcing my views on the importance of providing excellent and unrivaled customer service.
All of the roles I’ve taken on, have come with their own individual challenges and learning opportunities and my new role will be no different, I’m confident the knowledge and experience I’ve gained over the years, will be invaluable in helping realise the ambitions of both the branch and the company alike.
I left my last role, at Newey & Eyre, after 22 year service, the last seven of which was as manager of the Durham branch. My decision to leave, after such a long time, wasn’t taken lightly, but the offer to move to a business with such a fantastic reputation, progressive nature and ambitious outlook, was impossible to refuse.
The accommodating and friendly nature of all people within the company, from the directors, Sunderland branch staff, other branch managers and their staff, head office staff, and every other person I’ve had the pleasure of meeting and talking with, has made the transition not only easier but extremely enjoyable.
My goal is to repay the faith shown in me by effecting continued growth of both the branch and the company by galvanising the team, helping it reach its maximum potential, streamline and smooth out the internal, back office and warehouse procedures and, ultimately, increase even further the confidence our customers have in our ability to provide an exceptional service.”
