Balliol House, Longbenton
The Park Lighting Design team were appointed to the project by mechanical and electrical contractors, Norstead, to design and supply lighting to Balliol House within the newly refurbished Balliol Business Park. Metnor Property Group was the main client: https://metnor.co.uk/
An aesthetically pleasing suspended linear LED lighting system was installed across the three floors of the building. The system also ran between an Ecophon Solo Baffle System in the highly impressive reception area. At the client’s request the east and west wing were to look identical which was implemented to the project design.
Inside each fitting is a PIR and photocell sensor. This special kind of lens is used to gather light from a very wide field of view and focus it directly onto a passive infrared sensor. As daylight enters through the window, the sensor activates, and the lighting naturally dims down. The light automatically switches off when the building is vacant, saving the client money and helping the environment. LED lighting was used throughout the project.
“This is one of a number of projects that we have worked on alongside Park Electrical Distributors” said Gary Nolan, Electrical Project Manager at Norstead. “We know the team and have forged a good working relationship with them. They are innovative, work to competitive prices and involve market leading suppliers. They are always on-hand to adapt designs and think outside the box to visually bring a project to life.”
